Volunteer

We are looking to build a deep roster of alumni who, through their experience and skills, can provide support for the students at our editorial publications and programs when needed. By volunteering, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with current students, network with fellow alumni,  and make a meaningful impact on the development of aspiring journalists at The Daily Pennsylvanian.

DPAA On Call (spontaneous & low commitment): This is an opportunity to be involved and offer your expertise without a deep time commitment. Our students are thankful for any guidance that DP, 34th Street, and UTB alumni volunteers are willing to offer during challenging moments when answers and support are needed. All industries, all levels of experience, all help wanted!

Editorial Review Program (monthly Zoom calls): Alumni volunteers will engage directly with selected content, providing insightful feedback and guidance for our emerging writers, photographers, designers, and more. Through monthly Zoom calls with the Executive Editor, alumni will play a crucial role in upholding the high standards of journalism at The DP.  Your support ensures that our student journalists receive the guidance they need to thrive in their roles and make meaningful contributions to the world of journalism.

DPAA Department Mentors (in-person and ongoing student mentorship): Department Mentors will play a crucial role in directly supporting students and providing mentorship to help them navigate their responsibilities and challenges at The DP. Through regular communication with editors and the opportunity to come to the Pink Palace to meet the students you work with, Department Mentors serve as essential resources, empowering students to produce high-quality work and achieve their goals.

After you complete this form, we will add you to the volunteering roster and follow up with more information. Please direct any questions to our Executive Editor, Anna Vazhaeparambil, at executiveed@thedp.com.
